The Broomcorn Field Series

The Broomcorn Field Series is historically accurate roman fleuve fiction featuring three young adults who come of age during World War II. Virgil Davis, the hero of The Broomcorn Field, is a senior in high school who enlists after the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor and is selected for the most elite fighting force of World War II, the Army Rangers. Meredith Knox and Phyllis Moore, the heroines of Leaving Pontotoc County, are young wives forced to carve a life for themselves they never imagined possible once their husbands go overseas in World War II. The third book, Can We Find Our Way Back Home? (which is in process), follows the attempts of Virgil, Meredith, and Phyllis to adjust to life in a post-War America.
